About event
Are you interested in how international events shape Slovak society; and how negative news (covering e.g. climate crisis, famine or current war conflicts) can change our view of the world, our decision-making and experience?
Come on Thursday (November 21 from 6:30 to 8 :30) to the Pink Whale ship in Bratislava for a live discussion from the workshop of the Ambrela platform, CEEV Živica and the Sokrat Institute as part of #TGV2024 and with by supporting the Slovak Republic through SlovakAid. The discussion will be devoted to the current topic 'The world in our mirror: Global events, local consequences'. You will also learn how the media selects and processes world events for domestic audiences; what psychological impact contemporary audio-visual production has on us, and also how emotionally colored media products influence not only public opinion and the formation of values in Slovakia, but also our approach to global challenges.
The questions of the moderator, Daniel Kaba (Executive Secretary of Umbrella), will be answered by panelists who are close to the topic of examining our behavior and reactions to the news, namely:
- Pavol Kosnáč (Director DEKK Institute),
- Dušan Ondrušek (psychologist and trainer, PDCS),
- Patrícia Gajdošociová (psychologist, Psycho for the Climate).
Discussion it is part of the Global Education Week (GVE), which is implemented by Umbrella with its members and observers in mid-November in Slovakia. It will also be broadcast Live via Facebook and YouTube channels: the platforms of Umbrella, CEEV Živica and other partners. You can actively participate in the discussion by asking questions via the slideo application using the code: #TGV2024.
The executive secretary of the Umbrella platform, Daniel Kaba, also invites you to this event: "We often use mental abilities when providing information about foreign disasters. What but do they affect our senses and feelings? You will find out at the discussion on November 21." The discussion will be followed by a performance by the post-rock band Vata as part of the program.
