16:00 – 17:30 Do you light the Chanukah from the right or the left? Do you add or remove candles every day? Did you know that Hillel and Shammai had a great debate about this a long time ago and that it is written about in the Talmud? Pavlína Šulcová and the illustrator Kakalík retold this and several other rabbinic stories in the Talmud do kapse comic book. They invited the reader among the rabbis who debate with each other across the centuries with the aim of passing on the Jewish tradition to the next generations so that it is relevant to the world in which we live. And so famous mystics, wise and sometimes also a little crazy rabbis and their students parade in front of us to explain how things really are in our world. Or doesn't he…? As part of the Hanukkah meeting, you will learn how the book was created, but we will also look at the text of the story in its original form and try out how the Talmud is studied. Previous knowledge of the Talmud is not necessary, experience studying in a chevrut is an advantage. Age 17–120 years
