About event
Human Rights Day (December 10) is very important to us, because basic human rights, their observance and fulfillment are the basis for the good functioning of human society anywhere in the world.
On the contrary, their neglect and trampling leads to the worst human tragedies and unnecessary suffering.
We want to express our pity for the victims of human rights violations, past and present. Especially for civilians everywhere deprived of dignity, freedom and life by repression by state power, terrorist attacks or war conflicts.
In every tense time, it seems as if the supporters of one or another party, idea or opinion are irreconcilably opposed, mutually existentially denying groups. Many think of the others that they are only interested in the complete destruction of the side of the "adversary", which leads them reciprocally to the same attitude. let's try to have a dialogue.
We will meet on Friday 13 December at 16:30 near the place where the New Synagogue stood, on Ponávka between the swimming pool and Trauma Hospital. Then we will go with lanterns and candles to the mosque on Vídeňská street. We will make three short thematic stops along the way. The 2.8 km long route is intended to be used to get to know each other and to talk.
If we cannot help directly in places of conflict, it is also a certain heroism to try to get to know our ideological opponents, with whom we live, for example, in the same city , an effort to find a common language with them - an effort to agree on basic human rights.
That is why we ask you to limit your expressions of support to which side of the conflict to a maximum of small symbols on your clothes etc. But definitely don't wear any flags or inappropriate banners. Thank you.
If you are interested in being involved as co-organizers or would like to give a short speech suitable for this event, please let us know before Sunday 8/12.
We look forward to working together creating light for human rights.
