About event
Our immunity can do miracles, but stress changes all the rules
The immune system is crucial for our survival - protects us from infections, promotes healing and actively fights tumor cells. Just as the heart warns high pressure or accelerated frequency, our immune system sends signals when something is wrong. Unfortunately, we often ignore them. Chronic stress has a devastating impact on immunity - it contributes to immunodeficits, inflammations, autoimmune diseases and cancer. Yet we do not avoid it in modern society and the feeling of irreplaceability can cost us health and life.
Associate Professor Zuzana Ozaniak Střížová is a Czech immunologist, doctor and scientist at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and at the University Hospital Motol. It deals with the treatment of patients with immune disorder and examines the role of immune cells in cancer and the effect of stress on the immune system. She has won a prestigious award for her scientific activity, such as L’Oréal-Uunesco for Women in Science and in 2024 it was ranked by Forbes magazine among the most important Czech scientists. She is the author of the monograph of immunity in questions and answers.
