In the footsteps of bats and history
Discover the fascinating world of nocturnal flying mammals with us during a guided walk through the Pečnian forest. Together, we will set out from the Lanfranconi bridge across the Danube with a view of the Karlovy Vary and the Hundsheim hills, we will walk through the protected area of the Pečnian forest to the historical bunker "Štěrkoviště" from the Second World War.
What awaits you?
Expert explanation about the life of bats: How echolocation works, why they need darkness and what would happen if they disappeared from nature.
Ekovýchova v practice: We will explain why entry to the wintering grounds is prohibited and what responsible conservation of nature looks like.
Watching waterfowl: We will introduce you to the Danube as an important refuge for ornitofauna.
History in nature: We will talk about the Iron Curtain, which paradoxically helped preserve rare biotopes in this area. We will introduce you to the development of the Danube river network and how it shaped the surrounding landscape to what it is today.
A walk through a floodplain forest: We will end the journey with a walk along the gravel beaches of the Pečnia Riviera with an explanation about the importance of floodplain forests for biodiversity.
Meeting place: under the Lanfranconi bridge at 1:00 p.m.
Duration of the program: approx. 3.5 hours.
Equipment: If you are interested, we will lend you binoculars for observing the winter landscape and birds (indicate your interest in the order).
Tickets:
Tickets for the walk can be purchased electronically via the eshop https://shop.bratislavaregion.travel/produkt/komentovana-vychadzka-za-kridlami-noci/. The price of one ticket is €19.
Dates:
The walks will always take place on Sundays, on the dates 4.1., 18.1., 1.2., 15.2., 1.3., 15.3., 29.3.
Recommendations
The excursion takes place in the wild, so we ask participants to appropriately dressed and shoes for the terrain - we recommend sturdy, waterproof shoes and clothing suitable for the natural environment. Please note that during the activity we move outside the built-up area, where various unpredictable situations can occur (weather changes, slippery terrain, presence of insects, etc.). Ecocentrum Čunovo is not responsible for the effects of nature and their possible consequences on the participants. In case of good weather, we recommend packing enough fluids.
For whom the walk is intended
For all curious and nature lovers from 12 years old. The number of participants is limited to 20.
Before starting the trip, you must present a valid ticket with a QR code (on your mobile phone or printed), don't forget to take it with you.
