About event
The bitter comedy about the clash of dreams and reality
During World War II, financially secured by the Nobel Prize, the most famous American playwright of that time Eugene O'Neill began to write (except for a heavily autobiographical journey to the night) a spectacular cycle of games. He called him the story of owners who had expropriated, who was supposed to map American history from the Declaration of Independence to the Economic Crisis of the 1930s. Out of O'Neill, he finished only one game: but riveting. She was a bitter comedy about his main life theme: a double -alarm role of lies and illusions in human life, which he called a little poet. She got to the stage only several years after his death, but today we count on the highlights of his extensive work. Cornelius, nicknamed con, fled to America from Ireland when he lost his social status due to the scandal. Even in America, it is drowning in debt, but still firmly adheres to its noble identity of the landowner and war hero. She constantly admonishes her wife and daughter for any disclosure of their modest Irish roots. The story takes turns when Sara's daughter falls in love with a rich American guest at their inn. Cornelius' desire to maintain the illusion of its high position despite the number of original peripetia to an explosive tragicomic outlet. The jewel of world playwrights is steadily specializing.
