Teaches of Peaches (2024) - Melkweg Amsterdam

This compelling documentary, whose title is taken from her second album, celebrates the career of one of contemporary music's icons. Exciting lyrics and music, cool hairstyles and bodysuits made of pubic hair. This is how we first saw Peaches; the provocative and incomparable feminist electroclash musician and artist. It quickly became clear that she was much more than her music, as this film makes clear. Peaches helped kick open the doors for women in music to talk more openly about sex, identity, anger, and their own uncompromising artistry. Two decades later, Peaches is preparing for the 20th anniversary tour of her groundbreaking album. Teaches of Peaches combines spectacular footage from this “The Teaches of Peaches Anniversary Tour 2022” with exclusive private archive material and candid interviews with collaborators, admirers and loved ones (including Leslie Feist, Chilly Gonzalez and Shirley Manson), making it a reminder of how this artist is groundbreaking. Winner of the Teddy Award for best documentary at the Berlinale 2024.
