About event
Cara de Espelho is the result of the meeting of some of the names that have marked Portuguese music in recent years: Deolinda, Ornatos Violeta, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, A Naifa, Humans, among others.
The starting point is the words and compositions of Pedro da Silva Martins (author and composer of Deolinda, Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Lena d'Água), to which are associated the instrument constructions of Carlos Guerreiro (Gaiteiros de Lisboa, José Afonso, Fausto, GAC), the bass of Nuno Prata (Ornatos Violeta), the guitars of Luís J Martins (Deolinda, António Zambujo, Cristina Branco) and the percussions of Sérgio Nascimento (Sérgio Godinho, David Fonseca, Humans , Deolinda) to serve the unmistakable voice of Maria Antónia Mendes (A Naifa, Señoritas). Serving as a gateway to the group's sound, the two debut singles Corridinho Português and Político Antropófágo reveal a sonic and poetic identity indebted to the richness of popular and traditional Portuguese music, the critical acumen of its poets and singer-songwriters, but with eyes set in a future that demands renewal, intervention and commitment to the world.
"the Mirror Face thus named brings the defects of the others mirrored…."
It is the motto of a of themes, which summarizes the band's entire concept: each song is a reflection of the virtues or defects, the weaknesses, the small or large powers, the tics, the vices, what it means to be a citizen or, in the broadest sense, what it is human being.
