Estrada television is something between a puppet theater, a television studio, a home workshop and a strangely vivid dream. The artistic group of young creators connects film, performance, improvisation, animation and live acting into one shared universe inhabited by employees of the television itself — production Karel, dramaturg Kamil, Uncle Grácio, Mr. Limetka, Anděl Strážný or media mogul František Jelínek. Everyone gives the impression of being stuck between a television variety show, a nightmare and a very touching amateur band.
The world of Variety Television is created using the method of material collage: plastic toys, miniature alcohol bottles, 3D printing, digital effects and real exteriors appear next to self-made puppets. The result is a special kind of realism — a world falling apart, ridiculous and at the same time surprisingly romantic. The aesthetics of Televize Estráda is deliberately uncombed, in some places it resembles art brut, home video or a forgotten television archive, but it is precisely in this imperfection that its individuality and humor arise.
The core of the work is a live-action puppet theater combining absurd humor, pub poetics and an almost obsessive attention to detail. Individual projects loosely build on each other and create their own mythology, which can be followed across films, live performances and online content. Nevertheless, Televize Estrada retains its immediacy and volunteer charm — as if a spectacular television universe was created in a garage, out of enthusiasm, friendship and the need to create its own world.
