About event
🥳 We invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Once upon a time at Chmelnici", which will commemorate the legendary Prague Junior club Na Chmelnici, which was an oasis of the so-called second culture during the previous regime. Through photographs, posters and other artefacts, we will be transported to a time when the bold dramaturgy of Chmelnice helped shape the artistic and human orientation of at least two generations of young people. November 1989. That evening, two Brno theater groups — Divadlo na rovázku and HaDivadlo — performed a joint performance of "Razrazil" here.
At that time, bold statements about free elections and the importance of living in truth were heard from the stage. During the performance, people started coming to the theater directly from the demonstration on Národní. The actors, including Břetislav Rychlík — the guest of our opening, invited one of the beaten students to the stage, who testified about police brutality. The performance thus turned into an authentic reportage and passionate discussion.
On the second day, instead of the afternoon performance, the audience, apparently for the first time in what was then Czechoslovakia, witnessed a statement by students and theater workers who announced the start of the strike. Everyone stood up and applauded. These key events will also be part of the exhibition.
⏰ The exhibition is open from November 13, 2024 to January 10, 2025, Tuesday - Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
🎟️ Free admission .
