After the release of his latest and critically acclaimed studio of Speed Of Darkness, which celebrated the band's 40th anniversary last year, Danish hard rock icons D-A-D team up with Finnish dark rockers THE 69 EYES for the COWPUNKS AND GLAMPIRES TOUR 2025! This co-headline tour includes fifteen stops, and one of them will be Bratislava's Majestic Music Club!
D-A-D belong to the most prominent names of the Scandinavian rock scene, and their story is proof that loyalty to one's own sound and sense of humor can be stronger than fleeting trends. Beginning in 1982 under the name Disneyland After Dark, they initially oscillated between punk explosion and country parody before finding their signature raw melodic signature - somewhere between hard rock, rock'n'roll and their own peculiar aesthetic. The breakthrough came with the album No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims (1989), which is still a milestone not only in their discography, but also in the history of Danish rock.
Even though D-A-D are no longer "young and brash", they haven't lost any of their energy or ability to write powerful songs. Their concerts remain an explosive mixture of mature musicianship and contagious joy of playing. On stage, they act like a group that has known each other all their lives - which, after all, is not far from the truth. In the current lineup, which has been together since the 90s, brothers Jesper and Jacob Binzer remain the mainstays of the band, while bassist Stig Pedersen continues to bring the craziest instruments you've ever seen.
The 69 Eyes are a shining example that darkness can have style, elegance and a seriously powerful riff. The Helsinki goth'n'roll veterans have been around since the early '80s and early '90s, but they've never been content to be just another band in black. They emerged from the local glam rock scene, but soon discovered the magic of gothic, horror aesthetics and a slower, darker atmosphere - without losing their catchiness or strong melody.
With the breakthrough album Blessed Be (2000) and hits like "Gothic Girl" or "Brandon Lee", The 69 Eyes gained an international audience and became one of the pillars of the European gothic rock scene. In their music, the influences of Sisters of Mercy, Type O Negative and early HIM are mixed, but at the same time they maintain their own expression, based on the deep vocals of the charismatic Jyrki 69 and the dense, often cinematic sound.
