UPDATE:
At the end of this week, a not entirely pleasant, but unfortunately not unusual situation arrived at us. Big Youth was unable to attend the meeting at the embassy due to personal reasons and unfortunately did not get an alternative date until June. And so it happened that he does not get a visa to the Schengen area in time and thus cannot participate in the big European tour Roots & Culture 2026 together with The Abyssinians. Therefore, the French agency Mediacom had to start looking for a replacement and they succeeded in an interesting cast. A Jamaican veteran who calls himself the Lone Ranger will travel together with The Abyssinians.
ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE:
Two essential names in Jamaican music history will come to Prague for the first time! The Abyssinians and Big Youth will perform together on May 24, 2026 at Lucerna Music Bar and present us with an evening that connects the roots of roots reggae, the spiritual depth of the Rastafarian tradition and the pioneering energy of Jamaican toasting, which later gave rise to rap.
The concert follows on from last year's performance by Burning Spear and confirms that Prague is the heart of the continent, where cultures from all over the world have met for centuries, including musical legends from as far away as Jamaica.
