On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of The Doors, the music documentary The Doors: When You're Strange is coming to cinemas for the first time in 4K resolution. Directed by Tom DiCillo, winner of the Grammy Award for Best Feature Music Video, the film features rare archival footage and recordings of performances from their beginnings in 1965 to Jim Morrison's death in 1971. Through them, you will discover the story of one of the greatest legends of American rock music.
With a commentary written by DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp, the film opens a window into the world of fame, drugs and alcohol that is associated with the band, but always comes back to their intense dedication to the music. The film not only focuses on the matches and antics of Jim Morrison, but is also the story of Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and Johny Densmore; four musicians whose emphasis on artistic freedom and refusal to compromise has inspired more than one generation.
The film will be shown in cinemas with a special introduction and a new recording of the song Riders on the Storm. In cooperation with the non-profit organization Playing For Change, John Densmore, Robby Krieger and other special guests will perform in it at various exotic locations around the world.
