The Hague String Trio presents its new CD Echoes of Budapest

The Hague string trio presents a special, new CD - - - Friends : Three ironing trios and a duo, with two world premieres of three Hungarian-Jewish composers and lifelong friends: Pál Hermann, Zoltán Székely and Géza Frid.

The album was a hommeled musici. As young students, they got to know each other around the 1920s at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest , where they studied composition at Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók and where they lowered themselves to Masters. They their homeland, traveled through Europe, and all three ended up in the Netherlands where they played an important role in Dutch music life. They married here, and Székely and Frid lived there for years. Hermann stayed in Berlin, but often traveled to his in -laws in the Netherlands. Unfortunately his life had a tragic end, he did not survive the war. Székely and Frid became Dutch citizens after the war. Frid continued to live in the Netherlands until his death in 1989, Székely emigrated to the United States and Canada.
