About event
THE HOLY are a Finnish alternative rock band founded in Helsinki in 2014. Even though it comes from one of the darkest countries in the world, it is not only characterized by its Nordic melancholy, but also by its highly explosive live shows and the unusual band line-up with two drummers. Somewhere between post-punk, Bruce Springsteen and Krautrock influences, THE HOLY make you feel comfortable thanks to singer Eetu Henrik Iivari's timeless voice, heavy drumming, analog synthesizers and guitar-heavy walls of sound.
After their beginnings in small clubs Helsinki's THE HOLY have traveled widely and have played festivals and concerts in Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria. Among other things, they were at MaMA Music Convention 2023, Tallinn Music Week 2022, Midem Digital Edition 2020, Eurosonic 2019, Iceland Airwaves 2019, Reeperbahn Festival 2018, Where Is The Music, JaJaJa London and Lost In Music represented.
In 2021, the legendary German music television show Rockpalast broadcast THE HOLY's performance at the Crossroads Festival (seen here). In 2019, the German-French television channel Arte, in collaboration with the Finnish broadcaster YLE, filmed the band's performance at the Flow Festival, and the Seattle-based broadcaster KEXP filmed their performance at Iceland Airwaves, which can be seen on the channel's popular YouTube channel is
THE HOLY's debut album "Daughter" received critical acclaim, including being nominated in the Critics' Choice category of Finland's EMMA in 2019. The band received particular praise for the album's honest songwriting and lyrical themes such as the economic recession in 1990s Finland and reflections on growing up at that time. In 2020, THE HOLY released their second album "Mono Freedom", which was inspired by Alan Weisman's book "The World Without Us" - an examination of scenarios after humanity disappears from Mother Earth. The third album entitled “Ländmark” will be released in February 2024.
