Somewhere between Avishai Cohen (the bassist), Mammal Hands, Brad Mehldau and The Bad Plus, the Berlin composer and pianist Max Schlage is looking for music that is melancholic and euphoric at the same time. In his compositions he combines the complex with the direct, emotional and physical. So listeners, whether experienced in jazz or not, always have something to grab onto and something to surprise them. He has been playing the piano since he was five, studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin and has been a scholarship holder of YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Berlin e.V. since 2023.
"Max Schlage shows remarkable imagination in his compositions and he will leave his mark on the jazz scene" - Prof. Tino Derado
