About event

For the reopening of Teatro Camões, CNB designed a program with two dance names joining its repertoire for the first time. Sharon Eyal and the duo Iratxe Ansa – Igor Bacovich.
With a career as a dancer and choreographer, Sharon Eyal is today an unmissable name in dance. With a style that combines technical rigor and visceral expressiveness, his works explore opposing relationships such as individuality and the collective, the organic and the artificial.
Ansa – Bacovich have developed a particular path, focusing on a choreographic language that has based on a method developed by themselves. With very unique languages and universes in contemporary dance, her passion lies in the process and the constant search for excellence. Her ceaselessly dynamic creations are a manifestation of emotion and tension.

THE LOOK

Sharon Eyal is currently artistic director of Sharon Eyal Dance, S-E-D. She is one of the great references in dance, being regularly invited to create for large repertory companies, in addition to the creations she makes within her own structure. Created in 2019 for the Batsheva Dance Company, The Look is marked by an intense physicality and a movement that is simultaneously fluid and mechanical, creating a hypnotic effect. Eyal explores the relationship between performers and space, using repetitive and synchronized movements that capture the audience's attention from the first moment.

SUPERNOVA
Supernova is an energetic and avant-garde piece premiered at the
prestigious Basel Ballet Theatre. In a cosmic setting, full of
bright and black-gray stars, the duo creates a pulsating work
that takes performers to their physical limits. Guided by raw
forces and the tremulous sound of John Adams' Shaker Loops, the
performers are transformed into a single body, snaking
continuously under tension.
No supernovae, a stellar explosion powerful and luminous, there would be
no change, no life, nor probably human beings.
Fascinated by this cosmic phenomenon, simultaneously explosive and
destructive, but also beautiful, brilliant and creative, artists give life
to a vibrant and emotional spectacle. After a journey through the most
diverse metamorphoses, group constellations and states of pure
tension, relief and total exhaustion arrive that remain shining
before our eyes. It is the shine of the extinct star: an
inner transformation.
