This policy workshop will explore the impact of EU law and policies on the present and future of music creators' rights. Researchers from the Horizon Europe-funded Fair MusE project will showcase findings from their ongoing in-depth investigations focusing on streaming services and social media platforms. This workshop aims to facilitate a dialogue among policy, legal, and industry experts on the complexities and challenges surrounding the implementation of EU laws targeting algorithmic and data-driven music exploitation. The event consists of 3 panels, each including a presentation by Fair MusE researchers followed by a debate led by invited experts and open to the public.
This event is aimed at professionals, scholars, and enthusiasts with a vested interest or background in the music industry, particularly in legal or practical elements. We especially welcome those with expertise in industry practices or regulatory frameworks at the EU or Portuguese levels, as we aim to encourage a beneficial exchange of experience and ideas.
