About event
THE WEALTH SHOW
Global taxes and inequality in the world
✨Including Thomas Bollen, Najah Aouaki, Sander Heijne, Rens van Tilburg, Bouke de Vries and moderator Matthea de Jong.
✨An evening-filling program around the installation 'Wealth Shown to Scale' with speakers, poets, film and music. The evening revolves around the theme 'Just economy': how can we really tackle global inequality and redesign our own economy so that it serves people and society again?
✨Program
The evening is presented by Matthea de Jong and opened by Sarah Payton and Maarten van Boven (NDSM Loods). Initiator Hans Bos (KochxBos Collective) introduces the art installation 'Wealth Shown to Scale'. Thomas Bollen kicks off the evening. His new book 'Money enough, but not for you' has just been published; he talks about the inequality behind our financial system. The book is available during the evening and can be signed.
Afterwards, discussion leader Matthea de Jong will talk to:
• Sander Heijne, investigative journalist, historian and editor-in-chief of Vrij Nederland
• Najah Aouaki, economist and city strategist for creative and inclusive cities
• Bouke de Vries, expert climate financing
• Rens van Tilburg, sustainable economist at the Sustainable Finance Lab
A fragment of the film The Waste Land by filmmaker Chris Teerink is shown, with a call for reflection and action. Chris talks about his film and then talks to the audience.
Rodger Werkhoven, creative technologist and OpenAI alumnus, gives a lecture on how greedy oligarchs can unexpectedly become the engine of change.
Dadara presents The Exchange Bank, an art project that offers a new perspective on our financial system.
And in between, poets contribute Jan Holtman (Main Voice, Bouncy Castle) and writer DS Daluiso (Coopertest) present activist poetry and stories from life.
The occasional trio Just, Piet and Noam surprises us with their look at the theme, seen from the generation that shapes the future.
