NOVEMBER 20

The Casting by Samir Fuchs
Germany 2024
Short

An advertising company is looking for the right face for a campaign. A short film by and with people with and without disabilities.

Hands Off by Paul von Boetticher
Germany 2025
Short Documentary

HANDS OFF captures the tenants’ resistance in Berlin-Wedding’s Kolonie 10 against the demolition of their courtyard. The threat to housing and community spaces by investors and speculators is nothing new in Berlin, and the residents of Kolonie 10 have been fighting displacement for nine years. When demolition machinery suddenly appeared without warning in early January, the community raised the alarm. They called for public support, protest, and for the destruction to be documented. From this act of resistance, the short film HANDS OFF emerged—making it clear that this is about much more than the loss of a courtyard.

Hark by Tristan Kunzer
UK 2025
Short Film

A father and son go to a clinic, we’re not sure why. All we know is the son wants to be understood. As the appointment progresses, his attempts to communicate become futile.
HARK is a film about kinship, caregiving and mental health in contemporary society. It's two men vs a problem that can't be seen.

Caution Colonialism by Elisa Erpenbeck and Mara Müller
Germany 2025
Short Documentary

The young OvaHerero activist Ningiree Kauvee is travelling from Otjiwarongo, Namibia, to Göttingen, a city whose colonial past has an impact on the present. Her mission: to uncover the invisible traces of the colonial legacy. The film accompanies Ningiree as she prepares intensively for a performative city tour, which is intended to bring the hidden to light. She visits the Anthropological collection of the University of Göttingen, which contains four human remains from Namibia, as well as the former colonial school in Witzenhausen. She recognises the inequalities at the historical sites such as the memorials and graves of the colonial profiteers: here the perpetrators are honoured while the victims, the OvaHerero and Nama, remain nameless. Ningiree's city tour through Göttingen becomes an act of self-empowerment.

Only Human - Fairness and Justice by Yasmin Godo
UK 2025
Short Documentary

Many communities are alienated by and distrustful of advances in genetics. It's only human to fear, distrust and hesitate when scientists say they are working for your benefit - how do you know? The Only Human film tells Brenda's experience of having sickle cell disease and uses this to ask scientists working on inherited disease to question whether they are really serving the patients they claim to support. The film pushes for a closer connection between science and society.
