As the writer and musician Thorsten Nagelschmidt (including "Arbeit", "Soledad", Muff Potter) decided to musically implement parts of his next book "For Members Only", he teamed up with the Berlin musician and producer Lambert to produce an album with depth and wit that breaks genre boundaries. The result is a fireworks display of beats, piano capers and wild cascades of text about an all-inclusive hotel on Gran Canaria, about 86 hours of The Sopranos in eleven days, about origins, family and the escape from the annual December depression. The motto and at the same time the refrain of the first single: »Never again Christmas in Germany.«
»What is that now? Spoken word pop? Prose jazz? Buchtronica?" asks the author Tino Hanekamp, and recommends: "Listen for yourself. First on the recording - and then ideally live."
"For Members Only", the book, will be published on September 10th, 2025 by MÄRZ Verlag. - “For Members Only”, the album, will follow on November 7th, 2025 at Clouds Hill, and in December, in the middle of the contemplative Advent season, Nagelschmidt and Lambert will go on tour together. - A unique revue made up of text, images and music and probably the toughest Christmas party to be experienced this year.
_______
»I love Thorsten Nagelschmidt's story, in many places it feels like my own. The joy of writing and the torment, the look into the abyss, self-doubt and the consolation in music, and finally the always unsuccessful Christmas escapes are all too familiar to me."
(Reinhard Mey)
"'Only for members' is spoken word in good terms: with music and even with choruses. Together with Lambert, Thorsten Nagelschmidt created an album that follows directly on from the wonderful Muff Potter song 'Nottbeck City Limits'."
(Jan Müller, Tocotronic / Reflexionor-Podcast)
"Oh, the pressure we put on ourselves this time of the year ... – I call it Stressmas."
(Dr. Melfi, The Sopranos)
