👀We invite you to the opening of the first exhibition in the new year! 👀

The exhibition of the multidisciplinary artist, musician, writer and performer Tomáš Roček opens the new exhibition year in the offspace gallery Vitríny Artbiom. This year, we want to focus more on those who live here, work and occupy the space with us, and all this in an inter-species, inter-gender, inter-generational, inter-disciplinary concept.
it had no chance to exist.
Parallel history of plants (and animals) is a "discipline" that deals with such subtle losses, nostalgias and general "missings". Most of the time we don't even notice these, but in summer, while walking around the river, we suddenly think that something is missing in the grass. We bend closer and see that there are no tiny blue mushrooms called porcupines (one of the favorite parallel species). We look up worriedly and see that the bark of a nearby ash tree is not covered with lichen with red tongues - there is absolutely nothing on it. And it would be possible to continue.
The loss is not complete. We are not even sure if this is a loss in the true sense of the word. We lament that something didn't happen, that we didn't survive. But we don't do it in general. We remember the care we gave to the wet leaves of unknown plants, we imagine how we pollinate the flowers again and dry the light stems. Longing is more present the more we try to suppress it. A burning house in a meadow reminds us of orange lizards from afar, photos of Tasmanian tigers remind us of their possible relatives.
Thursday's meeting of anonymous mourners lifts our spirits. We finally don't feel alone. Stories of unrealized possibilities bring tears to our eyes, and we know that what is possible is suddenly necessary.

👀 We invite you to the opening of the first exhibition of the new year! 👀

The exhibition by multidisciplinary artist, musician, writer, and performer Tomáš Roček kicks off the new exhibition season at the offspace gallery *Vitríny Artbiom*. This year, we aim to focus more on those who live, work, and share the space with us, embracing an interspecies, intergender, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary perspective.

Parallel Histories of Plants / Tomáš Roček

Just as it is possible for us to miss siblings we never had, it is also possible for us to miss plants and animals that we never had the chance to meet or that never had the opportunity to exist

Most of the time, we don't even notice them, but in the summer, when walking by the river, we suddenly feel that something is missing in the grass.
