About event
How is the country changing under the pressure of climate change? And how is our relationship to it changing?
The Transitioning LANDscapes conference, realized as part of the Creative Europe project of the same name, brings a three-day program that connects art, ecological thinking and landscape research. It will take place in Žilina and Rajec, where artists, researchers, philosophers and activists will meet to think together about how artistic practice can respond to the climate crisis and co-create new collective visions of the future.
The conference takes place from October 23 to 25, 2025 in the New Synagogue in Žilina and in landscape locations around Žilina and Tomato. The program is divided into thematic blocks:
- Landscape transformations: Local ecological contexts
- Methodological frameworks – research and curatorial approaches of the LAND project
- Art and science in dialogue – interdisciplinary cooperation
- Performative expeditions led by the Studio of Spatial Communications+ VŠVU Bratislava
- Shared futures: Collective action at a time of societal polarization
- Eco-emotions: Climate anxiety, climate courage
- Ecological justice: Art as a tool for change
- Rediscovering a changing landscape – a poetic and musical walk with the collective Rara Woulib (FR) in Rajci
The conference is held in English, while the first day will be interpreted into Slovak.
Tickets and the program are available online.
For the Thursday evening discussion and the Saturday performance in Rajci entry is free.
