Come and enjoy top jazz at the legendary Nu Spirit Bar! On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, you can look forward to this line-up:
Martin Uherek - tenor saxophone
Martin Kapusník - double bass
Jakub Valíček - percussion instruments
The concert is organized by the civic association Maretta Production and is part of the Tribute to Jazz Giants concert series, which is dedicated to the work of the greatest jazz musicians of all time time.
The theme of the first of the series of concerts will be the long-time saxophone legend - Sonny Rollins. A native of New York, he grew up in the heart of the African-American artistic elite - in Harlem, in the immediate vicinity of iconic places such as the Savoy Ballroom and the Apollo Theater. Over the years, Rollins has built a reputation as an extremely creative and daring improviser. He became famous for his ability to develop musical motifs into long, logically structured solos. During his career he collaborated with other legends such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, J.J. Johnson, Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, Jim Hall and Don Cherry. He will celebrate his incredible 96th birthday in September 2026.
Partners of the event are: RYU saxophones, SAX & FLUTE, Jazz.sk and BKIS.
Basic ticket in advance: 15 EUR
Discounted ticket in advance (students, pensioners, ZŤP): 10 EUR (number is limited)
Ticket on the spot: 17 EUR
