“Tribute to Valentine” marks the inauguration of the Valentim de Barros Studio Room in the Bombarda Jardins - Cultural and Community Center. Promoted by Largo Residencies (responsible for the bombarda gardens), in partnership with the D. Maria II National Theater (resident entity and manager of the Valentim de Barros Studio Room throughout 2025), along with the Volunteer Volunteer Group of Miguel Bombarda Hospital / Local Health Unit - ULS São José and institutional support from Estamo.
Between March 27 and 30, 2025, is the 1st S.E. Valentine de Barros - “Auto of the hostess” by Inês Vaz and Pedro Baptista - along with an inaugural program full of activities: exhibitions, conversations, concerts, performances, cinema, visits and workshops, mark the symbolism that Valentine de Barros represents. Both the show “Auto of the hostess” at S.E Valentine de Barros and the visit to the Panoptic - Security Pavilion will remain scheduled until April 13th.
The name of this new room, former Telheiro of the Miguel Bombarda Psychiatric Hospital, and the tribute program is not limited to a mere tribute to the former dancer Valentim de Barros. They are rather a symbolic act of permanent struggle for freedom and diversity. A cross between dissent and memory. The inauguration of this cultural space open to the city of Lisbon is a way of eternalizing the Legacy Valentim.
