About event
The fact that the form and history of Brno was formed together for centuries by Germans, Czechs and Jews, can be read in almost every book about the city. Almost everyone knows that Jewish entrepreneurs stood at the greatest glory of Moravian Manchester, the whole world knows Villa Tugendhat and many at least suspect, as tragically centuries -old coexistence ended. But the whole history of the flowering Jewish community in Brno is not very well known. The book of thirteen dreams of freedom is trying to correct this debt at least partially. Thirteen fates, tied to the moon of the Jewish calendar, can be seen into the lives of personalities that formed the history of the Jewish Brno from the mid -18th century to the mid -20th century. Among them was the self -proclaimed Messiah Jakob Frank, a passionate lover of freedom Mojs Dobuschka, Rabbi Baruch Jakob Placzek, doctor Richard Werner, writer Ernst Weiss, comedian Fritz Grünbaum, activist Nora Lustig wisdom and kindness. The lives of these men and women best illustrate how huge benefits the city has in which several cultures and religions live together. Thanks to them, the city ranked alongside important European centers of industry, culture, art and science. The lives of these men and women loving freedom are best illustrated by the huge benefits of the city in which several cultures and religions live together. A turbulent 20th century, despite any of these stories, should not be forgotten, because everyone has contributed significantly to Brno and its inhabitants and residents moved to modern and all good and bad what it brought.
