DISCUSSION: THE FUTURE OF SELF-GOVERNMENT IN SLOVAKIA
💬 How should the state, regions, cities and municipalities function so that they make sense in everyday life? Come to the early evening discussion of the associations #SK8 and #ZMOS entitled THE FUTURE OF SELF-GOVERNMENT IN SLOVAKIA, and join the open debate on public administration reform.
🟣 In an informal atmosphere, we will present the main starting points and proposals of the joint position document of the SK8-ZMOS associations, which is based on the experience of local governments. The discussions are intended for the general public - anyone who cares about how our regions, cities and municipalities function.

Presentation of the main starting points and drafts of the document based on the experience of local governments. Focused on the need for systemic changes – clearer competences, stable financing and a stronger position of self-government. What are the main barriers to the functioning of self-government? Why should the division of competences be reconsidered? Which changes are key?

Representatives of local governments in western Slovakia will discuss together the need for public administration reform as one of the key challenges. Municipalities face growing demands without sufficient competences and resources. The SK8 and ZMOS document offers solutions for stronger and more efficient self-government. How does the current system manifest itself in practice? What changes are necessary? How can joint action bring real reform?
