About event
Experience the gripping cases of a criminal defense lawyer closer to murderers. See the curtain, share what makes the work of a criminal lawyer.
close your eyes. They sit opposite a woman, a likeable, courteous, loving mother of two children. She suffocated her newborn. Another day. A man. They talk to him about Bach and Bruckner about the Russian romantics. Then open the files and look at the pictures of bodies of two women. He cut their throats through them. Imagine that you would have to breathe in the same air with this person even after looking at these pictures, spend time in the same space, talk to her, listen to her, give her belief, to defend her with all means of art in court, in public, to the press. Would you do it? And if so, could you do it?
And now imagine that this is not a thoughtful plot, but pure reality. Don't you think?
Then “Welcome!” In the world of Veikko Bartel. Bartel plays with the reader, drives him to the limits, shows him the extent of the evil. This is really about the cases. Not about the defense strategy, not about the judgment or the process (at least not primarily), only about how and the eternally floating why ……
All in all, murderers is a book that I read very well, but some readers will certainly drive to a certain border. That's ok, because unlike in the courtroom, you can simply fold the book and read on later. Because as frightening the cases are, the curiosity will win and you want to read on. The book will bring some readers to the limits of their imagination to the limits of their emotions. But the book will perhaps also make some readers rethink that not everything is as it seems at first glance.
"Bartel not only describes the deeds and what is hidden behind it, but also gives a deep insight into his work as a criminal defense law Morgenpost)
"Schirach's short stories work like succinct children's fairy tale about Bartels stories.", (Maurice Feiel - Between the lines)
