About event
Immediately after the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, in February 2022, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic expressed solidarity of the infected country and launched a direct support program called "Researchers at Risk Fellowship". Shortly, over fifty Ukrainian researchers from various fields received this support in the ASCR institutions. They immediately joined Czech and European research projects, or developed research initiated at home. In addition, they have newly adopted some practices and knowledge of Czech science. At the Slavonic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the initiative was created by regular meetings of Ukrainian scientists, accompanied by lectures in the fields of humanities. This activity resulted in the publication of the collective monograph Ukrainian science lives!, Which contains literary and linguistic studies on art translations, film art or about Ukrainian emigration.
The book will be baptized during the evening. The circumstances of its establishment and the functioning of the whole program of the ASCR in the support of Ukrainian scientists will be presented by researchers Olha Doloh and Hanna Sytar from the Slavonic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the director of the Institute Václav Čermák and former chairwoman of the ASCR Eva Zážímalová.
