About event
For the fifth time in Žilina, and for the fourth year at the Žilina-Záriečie Station:
The Ukrainian community in Žilina cordially invites you to Ukrainian Day 2026 – a meeting dedicated to freedom, culture, music and the common experience of Ukraine's independence holiday.
Let's celebrate independence! It's more than just a historical moment – it's about a living culture that breathes in music, language, food and the people who carry it on. Together we will remember freedom as a value that gives culture space to grow, create and connect.
In August, Ukrainians commemorate the year 1991, when the Ukrainian parliament adopted a declaration of independence from the Soviet Union. This day has a special meaning for Ukrainians – it is a symbol of freedom, identity and hope.
The event is also a thank you to the people of Žilina and to all the people of Slovakia for their support, help and acceptance during the last years.
From 14.00 to 21.00 at the Žilina-Záriečie Station you will find:
- tasting of Ukrainian cuisine
- market of Ukrainian creators, craftsmen and producers
– performances of Ukrainian artists
– Ukrainian music and cultural program
– program for families and friendly community meetings
Main evening program under the Rondlo:
– concert
– Ukrainian disco
– joint celebration of summer, freedom and friendship
The event is organized by the Ukrainian House of Žilina together with volunteers, partners and friends community.
Your voluntary entrance fee will support the functioning of the community activities of the Ukrainian House in Žilina.
