About event
The book:
"I've always dreamed of writing a novel that will have a sound," says Yuri Andruchovych, who sang all his life, tried his band and played countless concerts. The acoustic novel Radio Night managed to launch a language fireworks, which literally explodes against the background of climate protests, the onset of pandemic and escalating threats by Russia. When reading Andruchych's stories, no one can be sure whether they are coming out of a wild life or a journey to dream. Bulgakovska fantasy with a little satire, eroticism and parody and with a number of pop -cultural references. It contains even a long list of songs that the author recommends listening to the night while reading. In exile, he earns a living by playing salon music, and after a series of dramatic events associated with killing a dictator, she is forced to go to escape. While he is made by his loyal friends Havran Edgar and Milenka Animé, he himself sends music, poetry and good stories to the dark world through his radio program. The poet, writer, essayist, translator, literary critic, one of the founders of the special stream of the Ukrainian postmodernism, which was named Stanislavský phenomenon, became known in the mid -1980s as a member of the group of poets Buyba - Bub (Burleska - Buffan - Buffonade). He returned to writing poetry later when he published a collection of songs for the Dead Rooster (2004). His poems were set up by Ukrainian rock groups Mertvyj Pivoň and crying Jeremiji. As a prose writer, he debuted a collection of realistic stories on the left, where he is the heart (1989), which later served him as the basis of a scenario for the feature film Hunger Hunger for Oxygen (1992). After the release of three short postmodern novels of recreation (1992; in Slovak, he was published in 2003, in Czech, under the name Recreace and Slavonicity of the Risen Spirit in 2006), Moskoviáda (1993; Slovak Edition is 2013) and Perversion (1996).
