About event

The Old Town Hall is one of the most important historical buildings in Bratislava and for centuries it was the center of city administration, judiciary and public life. During the wanderings, we will get to know its remarkable construction development, from the medieval mayor's house to the extensive town hall complex, which still reflects the individual building styles and important events of the city's history. We will look at how its shape changed, what interventions affected its architecture and what its walls tell us about the past of Prešpork. We will get a glimpse into the world of medieval and modern justice, we will learn how trials, crime investigations and sentencing took place. We will also pay special attention to the figure of the city executioner, who was not only the executioner of sentences, but also held other important tasks connected with the functioning of the city.

Through architecture, historical facts and specific human destinies, we will get to know the Old Town Hall as a place where power, justice and the daily life of the inhabitants of Prešpork were shaped for centuries.
