Umění včera a dnes: Tvorba tyflomap – technologie a uživatelské aspekty

During December 2024, the University of Applied Arts in Prague is organizing the 37th series of public lectures Art Yesterday and Today. The band with the subtitle Maps will offer a series of 3 lectures that will look at maps, for example, from the point of view of the landscape and its protection, cartographic creation or the issue of typhlomap creation.

Persons with severe visually impaired are among the specific target group of map users. However, the availability of modern typhlomaps and 3D models still lags behind current technological possibilities. Why is that so? What are the specifics of creating tactile maps? Why are modern typhlomaps colored and how is their creation different from the preparation of ordinary maps? Not only these questions will be answered by a lecture devoted to typhlomaps from the perspective of users, cartography, special pedagogy, but also expertise in 3D printing, which will be led by Alena Vondráková (Department of Geoinformatics, Faculty of Science, Palacký University in Olomouc).
