About event
Uncertain future
Johan Pertl & Patrik Krišák
Uncertain Future exhibition aims to link two different but mutually complementary approaches to the issue of the future. Patrik Krišák through painting and Johan Pertl through the glass building open up the visual dialogue on civilization, nature and time. His work thematizes the ecological concerns of the present, but instead of warning, it offers a different perspective - hope. He has long been involved in the motif of underwater nature, especially coral structures, which he understands as a symbol of interconnection, restoration and life. Its paintings depict fictitious landscapes and shapes reminiscent of the atlas of shell and organisms set outside a specific time - perhaps from the future, perhaps from ancient times. The inspiration of the sea and its life becomes a means of visual thinking about a world in which climate change does not only mean extinction, but also the possibility of transformation. Its glass objects evoke relics of extinct civilization - melted shapes shaped by spontaneous aesthetics. It acts as an archaeological findings of the future, as a fossil of civilization memory. In the tension between the fluidity of the shape and the chaos of nature that surrounds them, there is a calm after demise - a silent world in which traces of human presence persist in the material and form. Glass works not only as a medium, but also as evidence - the bearer and the recording of the disappeared. However, both authors move in the common area of speculative landscapes and fragments - creating an atlas of shapes that reflect the tension between natural and human, between what it was, and what is coming. It persists. Two creators whose approaches intersect at the time of change - quietly, layered, yet significantly. Mell
