Event by: Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin
Location: House of World Cultures, John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, Berlin - Mitte
About event
Access to living space is a major challenge for many Berliners, and good housing is a scarce commodity. Young people in particular often experience the search for an apartment as overwhelming, discriminatory and hopeless. This year's Youth Housing Congress is therefore dedicated to the question: What is already being done - and what more can be done to realize a right to the city for young people? All young Berliners are invited.
Young people and young adults are invited to make their concerns and wishes visible together and to develop ways and visions for changes in the Berlin housing market. The congress offers the opportunity to find allies, organize yourself and exchange knowledge about your rights in the housing market. Representatives of politics and activism discuss solutions for a fairer housing policy with the participants.
What awaits you:
Artistic projects & utopia: Young people show what is going wrong today - and what housing can look like tomorrow.
Workshops & actions: Whether tenancy law, creative solutions, homelessness or alternative forms of housing - here you will get knowledge, tools and inspiration.
Get to know your rights! Find out more about advice centers, projects and initiatives on the “Market of Opportunities”.
Get into conversation with politicians! At the politics forum you will meet decision-makers directly - tell them what needs to change!
Stage & Film: Short films, exchange formats and music
A cooperation between the Evangelical Academy of Berlin, Gangway e.V. and the House of World Cultures (HKW). A project as part of the HKW homeland program, funded
by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media based on
a resolution of the German Bundestag. The Youth Housing Congress is made STRONG by the Berlin Youth Democracy Fund! funded by the Youth and Family Foundation of the State of Berlin.
