A tradition with the scent of Christmas: UMB unites hearts to help the Beacon of Hope
The Christmas season is a time of love, joy and mutual support, and every year our university tries to translate these values into concrete actions. We traditionally participate in the Bystrické Vianoc, where we offer a delicious university punch, the proceeds of which we donate to a good cause. This year, the university management and the faculty management are joining this tradition again, so that we can jointly support the civic association Svetielko nadeje.
This year, however, we will make the tradition even more personal. We donate part of the proceeds from the university punch to a specific person - 19-year-old Leo, the son of our colleague. Leo has been fighting the hereditary disease cystic fibrosis since he was two years old, which has significantly affected his life and the life of his family.
What is the university punch?
This initiative has already become an integral part of our university traditions. University punch is not just a drink, it is a symbol of belonging, joy and the desire to contribute to a better world. Together we can do great things, and it is in such moments that the power of the community is shown.
To whom do we donate the proceeds?
Proceeds from the sale of the university punch go annually to support those who need it most. This year, too, we decided to help our long-standing partner, the civic association Svetielko nadeje, which provides support to children with oncological diseases and their families. Contributing in this way means not only helping financially, but also lighting a spark of hope in their difficult moments.
This year, however, we are enriching the tradition of support with a personal dimension.
We also decided to help Leo, who was given a chance to significantly improve his health. In the last six months, a "light of hope" dawned on this boy and his family. Thanks to treatment, he can finally experience life with fewer restrictions. However, the monthly cost of this treatment is 4700 EUR, which is an enormous financial burden for his family.
When and where can you find us?
From 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. . we will be at the stand in front of the Town Hall on December 10, 2024. Look for the UMB sign and the University Punch.
