About event

The Center for Constitutionalism and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Forum for Human Rights, invites you to a lecture on the Suffering of Women during the Uyghur Genocide organized on Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10.

The lecture will feature 2 survivors concentration camps in China, in which countless members of the Uyghur minority are still imprisoned.

Mihrigul Tursun (online) was arrested several times by the Chinese authorities during her life and spent months in detention where she was subjected to physical and psychological torture and abuse. Moreover, this imprisonment made it impossible for her to say goodbye to her late son. After sharing her harrowing experiences in international forums, she has become a prominent global voice calling attention to the genocide by the Chinese regime, which millions of people are constantly subjected to.

Kalbinur Sidik comes from Ürümqi, the capital of East Turkestan and Xintiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. She originally worked as a Chinese teacher at a local primary school, but after she was captured and placed in a concentration camp in 2017, she was forced to teach and re-teach Mandarin to other detained members of the Uyghur minority. Kalbinur witnessed torture, sexual abuse and other violence against detained Uyghurs. She also gave a statement about her experiences before the Uyghur Tribunal in London, which in 2021 included ruled that China is committing genocide against the Uyghurs.

The lecture on a very current topic will be held on December 9, 2024 in room no. 117 at PF UK from 18:00.

We look forward to seeing you! 💙
