13: 30-16:00 Awareness, artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence - AI) Most of us have been using on a daily basis for many years, for example in the form of internet translators or travel navigation. After launching the CHATGPT program in November 2022, however, the development of artificial intelligence gained world attention, opened to the general public, and the professional community inevitably faces fundamental issues regarding the originality, authenticity and verifiability of information. This challenge concerns all generations across the fields and activities of human efforts, including art history. That is why we, historians and art historians, have to ask how to handle new instruments for research and academic work, for teaching art history and curatorial practice. At all universities and art schools in the Czech Republic and abroad, continuously updated methodologies for working with AI are created, interaction with international guidelines. The only way to minimize the threats associated with AI is our ability to orientate in its development and to work critically with it.
What can AI be useful for art history? In what areas do colleagues with AI already work? Where and how can we inquire and learn new skills? What are the pros and cons of work with AI? In individual contributions, experts on artificial intelligence will introduce us to the current state of development and ethical problems. The possibilities of working with digitized museum collections or image files will be presented in order to identify the fakes,
or examples of AI involvement in the teaching of art history. There will be a round table in which will be debated about the pros, negatives, and ethical issues of this technological progress.
