Christmas Film Screening: That's John Doe
19. December 2024 from 19.30
The legend of the silver screen Gary Cooper will present himself in the leading role of the famous film from 1941. The screening of the film at the onyx partition in the main living room of Villa Tugendhat will be preceded by a Christmas mixed drink, which you can can be enjoyed on the technical floor.
The romantic comedy It's John Doe (originally Meet John Doe) was filmed by the legendary director Frank Capra. The plot brings the viewer to the editorial office of the newspaper "The Bulletin", which is being left by journalist Ann Mitchell (Barbara Starwyck) as part of the restructuring. Ann therefore writes a fictional letter to a man who is unemployed, criticizes social conditions and threatens suicide. Ann names this fictional person John Doe. The letter resonates strongly enough with readers that Ann gets her seat back, but she is faced with a new problem because of course there is no John Doe. It is at this moment that the homeless John Willoughby (Gary Cooper) enters the scene.
