About event

This year, the Brno SIST Choir continues the renewed tradition of popular Christmas concerts. This year's will be held on Tuesday, December 10, in the setting of a Protestant church (just like in Sweden), and as usual in the Red Church on Comenius Square.
Get ready for the mysterious atmosphere of a long winter night, which will be enhanced by the light of candles and beautiful (perhaps not only) Nordic music. The whole concert will be in the spirit of celebrating the feast of St. Lucia. The choir will perform songs celebrating Lucia, as well as Swedish Christmas songs.
This year you will also be able to look forward to the magical sound of the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish musical instrument, played by Greybeard, a guest of the SIST Swedish Choir.

In addition to listening to music, you will also be able to try genuine Swedish Christmas pastries, which will be available for tasting and sale at the entrance. A songbook of popular Swedish carols from the SIST repertoire will also be available for purchase. The proceeds will go towards renting the space and supporting the choir.

Entrance is voluntary.

The Swedish Corps SIST was founded in the spring of 2009 under the leadership of musicology student Kateřina Rašíková as part of the subject "Swedish in songs" at the FF.

The members are mainly FF students who have completed at least one semester of Swedish. The choir is occasionally accompanied by keyboards, flute, violin, clarinet or other instruments. The choir has also repeatedly performed at IKEA and Avion department store events, in addition to participating in the traditional celebration of Saint Lucy's Day organized by the Nordic Society and performing at Midsommarfest (summer solstice celebration) in Brno, and this year the chamber choir will perform again at the Swedish Embassy in Prague as part of the celebration St. Lucy's Day.
