About event
HU
As part of the 12th More than Neighbors - Hungarian Cultural Week in Bratislava program series, we pay tribute to the 120th anniversary of Victor Vasarely's birth with a special exhibition. Victor Vasarely is one of the best-known figures of geometric abstraction and op-art, whose works are based on the special relationship of form, color and optical illusion. His compositions involve the viewer through the play of movement, space and visual perception, while shaping the defining trends of modern art.
Victor Vasarely was born in Pécs in 1906, and then began his art studies in Budapest. In the 1930s, he moved to Paris, where he soon became an internationally recognized figure in modern geometric abstraction and op-art. His art has made his name known worldwide: his vibrant forms and compositions based on optical illusions have become an iconic part of 20th century visual culture.
The works shown in the exhibition come from private collections, offering a rare opportunity to meet Vasarely's iconic art up close.
