Vašulka Kitchen Brno in cooperation with Brno Artists in Residence is pleased to announce the announcement of the International Open Call for artists and theorists and theorists operating in the new media in the autumn period from 15 September to 15 November 2025. 2025. The last floor of the House of the Lords of Kunštát was reconstructed for a residential program, providing facilities for accommodation and work of artists in three studios.
The art of the art of new media - Vašulka Kitchen Brno (VKB) was founded in 2018 as a place for research, art experiment and informal education in the art of new media. It consists of the Woody and Steina Archive and Steina Vašulka and the permanent exhibitions of their selected works. VKB also organizes exhibitions of contemporary art, music events and other program, which supports the creation of new media. It focuses on the reminder and development of the artistic and philosophical legacy of spouses Vašulka, pioneers of the art of new media with links to the Brno environment.
General information on the residential program
The VKB residential program is used to link and create the Vašulka's link and creation in the context of the current discourse. We offer various platforms for the exchange and development of discussions concerning the historical and current form of newly and its application in the interdisciplinary field of art and theory. Brno Artists in Residence and Vašulka Kitchen Brno support the realization of diverse art projects and prefer cooperative approaches that reflect plurality and openness.
Resident*KA VKB 2025 will have access to the center of the art of new media, its digital archive, a hand library and will have the opportunity to present its work to the local audience. We offer residents and residents cooperation with our institutional partners, including the Faculty of Fine Arts of BUT and the Department of Interactive Media Theory of Masaryk University. We support interdisciplinary projects that include the involvement of local and regional experts in technical and scientific fields.
Resident*will be selected*and based on the open call of the Commission of the members of the Association Vašulka Kitchen Brno and invited guests. Applicants should be active artists and artists or theorists and theorists in the art of new media. We expect the VKB resident to present their work / research to the professional and general public in the form of presentation, lectures, discussions or exhibitions in the exhibition premises Vašulka Kitchen Brno.
We accept applications in English, Czech or Slovak.
Conditions:
Brno Artists in Residence and Vašulka Kitchen Brno is provided by:
Art scholarship: 40 000 CZK;
accommodation and studio in the house of the Lords of Kunštát, Dominikánská 9, 602 00 Brno, Czech Republic;
Available technical equipment, study facilities, library and the possibility of establishing contacts with the local scene and other specialized circuit.
Resident*is obliged*mandatory:
be in Brno at least 75 % of the time;
to participate in programs organized by BAIR and VKB, including a video interview to raise awareness of the residential program;
work out the final report with photo documentation during the stay.

applications must contain the following documents (only in PDF format):
1) A motivational letter where you describe the reasons why you report, and what you would like to focus specifically (max. 3,000 characters);
2) Brief informative CV including contact data (max 1 page);

The Brno Artists in Residence and Vašulka Kitchen Brno Support the implementation of the Divers Contemporary Artistic Projects and Favor Collaborative Approaches That Reflect Plurality and Openness.
VKB's 2024 Resident Will Be Granted Access to Our Center of New Media Art, ITS Digital Archive, Reference Library and Be Provided to Opportunity to Present Their Work to Professional and Public Audiences. Residents are encouraged to Cooperate with OUR Institutional Partners Including the Faculty of Fine Arts, Technical University of Brno and theory of Interactive Media, Masaryk University. We encourage Applicants to Apply Who Are Interested in the Development of Projects that included the involvement of local and regional experts in technical and scientific fields.
The Resident Will Be Selected Through An Open Call Review by the Committee of Vašulka Kitchen Brno Association Members and Guest Evaluators. Applicants Should Be Active Artists Or Theoreticians in the Field of New Media Art with and Genuine Interest in Exploring the Nature of Medium in Addition to Possibilities that it lends the subject of their inquiry. The VKB Resident is encouraged to Predent Their Work to the Professional and General Public in the Form of A PREESENTATION, LECTURE, DISCUSSION, OR Exhibition at the Vašulka Kitchen Brno Gallery.
We Will Accept Applications in English, Czech, or Slovak.
