Visitors will be guided through the exhibition by its curator Bc. Jana Černovská or curator Radim Vondráček.
The exhibition presents the vase as one of the longest-lasting forms of human culture – as a useful object, a decorative object and a symbol. It follows it from antiquity to the present as a phenomenon that retains its recognizability across the centuries, but at the same time changes depending on the cultural, social and artistic context.
The selection of exhibits represents a cross-section of museum collections – from glass, ceramics, porcelain and metal, from anonymous works and products of important glass and porcelain factories to original realizations and contemporary design. An integral part is also graphic art, photography and other work on the border between free and applied art.
