How to read the world?
At the beginning of the April program, we will present the literary magazine Verzia with its editors and translators Lucia Halová and Milina Svítková.
Have you ever thought about how foreign literature reaches Slovakia and what it takes to be able to read it? The magazine Verzia is published four times a year and for the sixth year it presents examples of world literature in Slovak translation. Guests Lucia Halová and Milina Svítková will explain how the literary magazine works behind the scenes and present some of their favorite issues - for example, about Brazilian ecocriticism or contemporary Austrian literature.
Verzia is a magazine focused on literary translation and its reflection. It brings samples of literary works in Slovak translation, interviews with translators and experts of foreign language literature, articles about translated literature, reviews. It gives space for the presentation of foreign literature and cultures translated by renowned translators, but also offers recent graduates of translation studies the opportunity to enter the literary scene and work with experienced editors.
