About event
Evening with photography: Michael Dressel - The End Is Near, Here
A unique opportunity to meet the photographer Michael Dressel in person before the opening of his exhibition at the Central European House of Photography.
The Good Photography Club invites you to an intimate discussion evening with the German photographer Michael Dressel, author of the powerful series The End Is Near, Here, which captures life on the fringes of American society.
Dressel long he photographed for years in the United States, documenting the lives of people living outside the mainstream of society. His photographs are raw, authentic and at the same time deeply human.
His works have been published and presented in media and photography magazines around the world, for example in The Guardian, L'Oeil de la Photographie and other international photography portals. He was interviewed by several European media and his projects were exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe and the United States.
As the British newspaper The Guardian wrote about his work:
"Dressel's photographs capture the world on the fringes of society - they are dark, powerful and at the same time deeply human."
During the evening we will talk about:
• the creation of The End Is Near series, Here
• the work of a documentary photographer
• photography on the fringes of society
• ethics and approach to photographed people
The evening will include a projection of photos and an open discussion. After the end of the program, there will also be space for informal conversations with the author.
The discussion evening is also an accompanying event to Michael Dressel's upcoming exhibition at the Central European House of Photography, the opening of which will take place two days later.
