About event
Dear supporters of scientific cafes,
is mid -March, and this means that winter is losing strength and a spring awaits us around the corner, with warm sunny days. We are all looking forward to the spring sun and bird singing, and we don't really think about what our warm sun is. I think it is now a very good time to invite a man who is a star that is a star that is the spring sunshine for us - he will say more. We were lucky and our invitation was accepted by the most skilled, director of the Astronomical Institute of SAS, v. in. i. In Tatranska Lomnica Mgr. Peter Gömöry, PhD., To whom our sun charmed so much that he studies the sun as a star.
The sun is an exceptional star. From a human point of view, because it is a source of all light, heat and energy (of course unless we count nuclear reactions in the nuclear power plants) we have on Earth. So the sun is essential for life. From a scientific point of view, because the sun is the only star we can observe with high spatial resolution. This allows us to study processes and phenomena that also take place on other stars, but in much larger detail. So the sun is a natural laboratory where we can test theories from different astrophysical areas. Within the lecture, we will focus on a brief summary of the current knowledge of the processes taking place in the sun, but we will also ask questions that we still have failed to answer. We will focus on topics: How is energy in the sun? How does it go through the sunny body and travel to us? What phenomena are in a sunny atmosphere? And have a direct effect on the Earth and us? What causes the top parts of the solar atmosphere to have a higher temperature than the surface of the sun? So there are many questions. Therefore, in the lecture we will also focus on what the future of sun research could be in Europe.
