About event

An activating and connecting event for EVERYONE. With VR experiences, activating workshops, boxing, gaming and more. Its

This is not a women's event, but a day that is particularly aimed at young people (boys and girls) and men. They play an indispensable role in changing behavior and combating violence against women. Men also experience the consequences: as witnesses, as relatives, or sometimes as victims themselves. That is precisely why connection is important. Men and young people: come and experience, come and participate, come and think and discuss.

Only together can we create a safe environment and bring change!

A unique opportunity to gain knowledge in an active and impactful way, with free workshops and other surprising elements all day long.

You will be so much richer for home than you came. Not only to contribute to a little more safety for others, but certainly also as an experience that you will never forget.

Being a Safe Woman is aimed at bystanders, with two important pillars:

1) Creating awareness

2) Offering a perspective for action

Step into a space where you not only listen, but really participate. Where together we break taboos, explore boundaries and look for new forms of solidarity. Violence against women is the starting point, but this concerns us all. Through stimulating working methods – including activating workshops, boxing, VR experiences and gaming – you will be challenged to think and act further. Not a standard chat, but a place where you are touched, activated and inspired.

Why this event?

Rotterdam is buzzing with power and talent. It is a city where diverse cultures come together, where creativity and perseverance are visible every day. Here dreams are pursued and barriers are broken.

But did you also know that 84% of women in Rotterdam experience sexual street harassment? And that more than 3,300 reports of domestic violence will have been made in 2023? And that the city leads nationally in femicide (murder of a woman because she is a woman).

These forms of violence not only affect the direct victims, but also families, neighborhoods, schools and workplaces - our entire society.

In such a vibrant city like Rotterdam, where so many cultures merge in all their cheerfulness and rawness, we show each other that we are are for each other, because we carry this city in our hearts. Together let's ensure that all that power and talent can develop to the maximum — without fear, with safety and respect as a basis.
