The dramatization of the famous novel Jazz Age, the Czech premiere
His most famous novel Great Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) wrote a representative of the so -called Lost Generation in 1925. The American writer and screenwriter, author of jazz age Francis Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940) is considered one of the best American novelists of the 20th century. In 1918, the son of Irish immigrants fell in love with Southern beauty and daughter of Judge Zelda Sayrová, who refused to take him until he was financially secured. After the futile attempts to find a job in advertising agencies or newspapers, Fitzgerald closed at home and wrote a novel on the Prague Side of Paradise - an autobiographical description of his Princeton years in a few months. The book was published in March 1920 and shortly after its publication became a cultural sensation. So Francis could get married in April 1920 and settled in New York. The city and its inhabitants have become an inspiration for further work (beautiful and curse, gentle is the night, the last magnate, the stories of the jazz age etc.)
in the novel Great Gatsby describes the inhabitants of Long Island the 1920s and their bohemian way of life. From the point of view of the middle -class young man Nick Carraway, he shows the superficiality of the young generation of the rich, the magic of money and the narcotic feeling of wealth. No one knows almost anything about Mr. Gatsby and is spreading fantastic rumors about the property. It is gradually explained why Gatsby is on the island and what he is at all, and begins to reveal a story full of passion, love and disappointment, and everything is heading towards a tragic end. "Every time you get the desire to criticize someone, remember that all people in this world did not have as much as you do." The sentence, which begins the novel and stage adaptation, shows the direction in which Nick Carraway sets into a world in which, even though the money is "up to the first", love is finally won.
It was subsequently introduced throughout America and all over the world. We will now introduce it in the Czech premiere directed by Petr Gazdík.
