About event
16. Music at the crossroads will belong to a concert of the international student ensemble Veni Academy. Since its inception in 2010, it has been an educational platform on which the community of young people, associated with interest in music with which they do not normally meet at school, has been re -forming from year to year. In her studies and interpretation, they are led by an experienced team of lecturers, most of whom consists of or sporadic players Veni Ensemble (in his environment the idea of the academy itself was also born), but in the lecture team there are now graduates of past academies. In Veni Academy projects, more than 300 students have been replaced for fifteen years, not only from Europe but also from outside countries.
In addition to a number of successful concerts in diverse environments, Veni Academy can also be presented with two CD albums, Rolling Tones/In Zarter Bewegung, which won the prestigious Slovak Radio_Head_Heads 2013 award for "Best Album of the Year in Classical Music" With the music of the American composer and multi -instrumentalist Elliott Sharp, which was published in the prominent American publishing house Mode Records and whose baptism was held as part of the joint concert of the New York ensemble Sysork and several Veni Academy players in the famous Brooklyn club Roulette in November 2018. The concert is-as in the case of every academy-the result of a few days of intensive creative-interpreting work, which has been taking place in recent years in a pleasant and ideal environment of the Faculty of Performing Arts AU BB. It consists of "open works" of diverse provenance, the resulting form of which is born on the basis of (often also) passionate discussions about how to make the author's "open" assignment to the most close and creative resulting shape. The most famous contribution to the program will be one of the key songs of American minimalism, in C Terry Riley from 1964 (she was also one of those that formed the form of the nascent Veni Ensemble at the end of the 1980s). Other songs of this evening come - with a single exception - from the sixties of the last century: it is a kind of Riley's "European counterpart", a C study from Zbygniew Rudziński, as well as from 1964, and then artistic outputs of an equally known pair of key experimental representatives Music of this period, respectively. Fluxus, Treatise Cornelia Cardow and two "flux thumbnails" Yoko Ono. A specific contribution to the program is finally the composition of one of the current Veni Academy lecturers, the Polish composer and conductor Robert Kurdybach 'Not Yet', which was tailored to this year's Academy and will be heard at a world premiere concert. We think there is something to look forward to ...
