About event
Cross is celebrating 25 years this year and Ventolin cannot be missing this year!
Ventolin is the electronic project of David Doubek, a founding member of the group Kazety and a member of the Nejhodnější medvídci theater, who has been active on the electronic scene since 2007. His first release from 2009 is the EP Mžitky, in 2012 he released his debut album Totem, followed by the EP Playbour (2015) and the joint album The Game YS ROTTYN (2016) with the Polish anonymous techno duo RSS B0YS. A breakthrough in Ventolin's career was caused by the release of the second album Vitajte (2017), headed by the viral hit Disco Science, with a video directed by Petr Marko (Midi Lidi) and Johana Novotná (Johuš Matuš) based on the groundbreaking "greenscreen" masking technology.
In 2021, the album Dneska se vyčásilo followed with the hits Mech and Posun času. He releases albums in collaboration with the Bumbum Satori label. In addition to numerous home concerts in Czech clubs and large and small festivals, he also returns to Slovakia and Poland every year. Ventolin uses old samplers, analog synthesizers and archaic drum machines to perform live.
He is a lover of the primitive sound of Detroit techno, Italian disco and the Indian disco style called "šrumbabumba" from the 1880s, played mostly with bare hands. In 2022, together with the members of the Nejhodnější medvídci theater, he founded the musical group Ametyst. David Doubek lectures on cultural anthropology at Charles University. In 2015, a documentary was made about Ventolin by the students of Prague's FAMU.
In February 2025, the new album All the best was released, the most varied and sophisticated record to date, which spans genres from psychedelic acid techno through jungle, disco, indie-pop to hip-hop.
